Brown Dog’s Sage Brush Rebellion (“Sage”) is a son of our late, great Chocolate Labrador stud dog Merganser’s Classic Rip and Tear MNH (Rip) and our female Wind River Hoppin’ Habanero JH (Chili). Like his father Rip, Sage was gifted with great looks, an extraordinary temperament, and lots of drive and style that make him a fantastic gun dog. He has a very calm disposition and a great attitude toward training that make him a great pet and family member. Sage has proved to be an excellent hunter and is steady to flush, calm in the duck blind, and has retrieved hundreds of birds over the past five hunting seasons! Sage has become an important part of our breeding program and several of his puppies are in competition and chasing birds in the field with very satisfied owners.

There are 13 Field Trial and/or Amateur Field Trial Champions, a National Field Trial Champion, 1 Qualified All-Age, 2 NAHRA Master Hunting Retriever, 2 AKC Master Hunting Retrievers, 1 AKC Senior Hunting Retriever, 2 AKC Junior Hunting Retriever relatives in 4 generations of his mostly “black Labrador Retriever” pedigree. Sage’s sire Rip has qualified at the 2004 and 2005 AKC Master National and Sage’s grandfather “Rascal” is the only Chocolate Labrador Retriever in history to win a National Open Field Trial Championship.
